Whenever you tell yourself that you’ll be happy once you get something, or if achieve something…
You’ve successfully programmed your mind to avoid being genuinely happy until you’ve achieved the set goal.
Conditional happiness sounds like…
“I’ll be happy when I buy a car.”
“I’ll be happy once I get a scholarship.”
“I’ll be happy when I get a promotion.”
“I’ll be happy when I get a spouse.”
“I’ll be happy WHEN….”
“I can be happy IF…”
… etcetera.
The thing is, when you set conditions for your happiness like this…
… you’d unconsciously start to suppress your happiness in the moment and focus on the target you’ve set for yourself – before you can be happy.
Too bad!
